How did you get started in real estate? I was encouraged by my mother, who was a hot shot Realtor in the 1960s and 1970s and a great mentor.

How long with the current company? 19 years

Licenses and designations: Licensed in Virginia and Florida; certified residential specialist; accredited buyer’s representative; graduate, At Home With Diversity

Associations: Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR), National Association of Realtors

Awards: Many - some of them are NVAR Life Member, Million Dollar Club, Top Producers Club, Coldwell Banker No. 1 Agent, Arlington Office since 1990, Chairman’s Circle, Who’s Who in Residential Real Estate

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Effectively balancing work and personal time

Area of specialty: Northern Virginia residential real estate - specifically Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church and McLean

Highest-priced home sold: $2,500,000

Most memorable house:I helped a nervous first-time buyer obtain a property with an orange exterior. Since she was often out of the country for work, I connected her with tenants, management services, lawn care, workmen, etc. When she was ready to sell her beloved “Pumpkin House” (which was no longer orange but we both still referred to it that way), she had a broken leg, so I helped her manage the fix-up process for the house.

Describe your worst experience buying or selling a house: Working with a client who did not trust anyone or any part of the process, no matter what I said.

Age: 64

Family: Married with adult sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren

Education: Diploma from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington; attended Laboratory Institute of Financing in New York

Community service/outside interests: Past volunteer and board member of Northern Virginia Hotline (crisis intervention service); former member, Junior League of Northern Virginia

Last book read: “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert

Last movie seen: “The Reader”

What kind of car do you drive? Acura RL

Describe your personal dream house: I’d like a light, bright house on the water. The main level would provide just enough living space. A kitchen with table space and two office areas (with a view of the water). This dream house would have an upper level with ample space for visitors, but I would be happy staying on the first floor! There would be big porches, including a screened porch, and patios full of flowers and greenery in pots and planters. No grass.
