DENVER (AP) - The owner of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and the Pepsi Center has announced it is laying off workers because of the economic downturn.

Kroenke Sports Enterprises executive vice president Paul Andrews wouldn’t reveal the number of employees let go because Kroenke Sports is a private company.

Kroenke Sports Enterprises also includes the Colorado Crush indoor football franchise, the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team, the Colorado Rapids soccer team, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, and the Paramount Theatre in downtown Denver.

It also includes Altitude Sports & Entertainment, which televises games for the Nuggets and Avalanche among other sports and entertainment programming.
