WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Corey Lyons hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 16 seconds remaining and then sank 3 of 4 foul shots to give Norfolk State a 74-71 victory over South Carolina State in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament on Friday night.

Lyons, who finished with 17 points, hit a long-range shot to give the third-seeded Spartans a 71-69 edge in a back-and-forth final minute that saw three lead changes. South Carolina State’s Jessie Burton missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer off the back of the rim.

The Spartans (13-17) rallied from 10 down in the second half to advance to their first MEAC championship, where they will meet top-seeded Morgan State in Saturday’s final.

Michael Deloach scored 20 points to lead the Spartans, but fouled out with 2:24 remaining.

Josh Jackson scored 18 points to lead the second-seeded Bulldogs (17-14).
