WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden is urging Democratic donors and supporters to use their influence to help get the president’s budget approved by Congress.

Biden spoke Monday to about 250 people at a thank-you event in Washington hosted by the Democratic National Committee.

He told the group that some on the right say the budget costs too much.

Biden said: “Well, I can say without equivocation and I speak for Barack Obama when I say we can’t afford not to have this budget.”

The vice president says if the country doesn’t get a handle on health care costs, it won’t be able to get its fiscal house in order.

He said it was not about a moral imperative, but about “economic stability.”
