CHICAGO (AP) - The U.S. women’s soccer team will open its 2009 domestic schedule on May 20 with a match against Japan in Frisco, Texas.

The U.S. Soccer Federation said Monday that the U.S. will also host Japan on May 23 in Sandy, Utah, as part of the two-game series.

The federation says the Texas game will be the first meeting between the countries since the 2008 Olympic semifinal, which the U.S. won 4-2 in Beijing.

Last week, the U.S. team made an appearance in the finals of the Algarve Cup in Portugal, where Sweden edged the Americans 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation.
