LAKELAND, FLA. (AP) - Detroit’s Justin Verlander gave up one run over a spring-best six innings in a 1-1, 11-inning tie against the Houston Astros on Tuesday.

Verlander, who had been struggling with his control this spring, allowed one hit, walked three and struck out two.

Astros starter Brian Moehler made his fourth start of the spring and allowed four hits in five scoreless innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Geoff Blum drove in Houston’s run in the fourth and Scott Sizemore tied it with a home run in the eighth.
