The following peanut product recall has been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:


La Vita Health Foods Ltd. is recalling two EZ Gourmet peanut butter cookie products. There have been no reported illnesses, according to the company. The recalled products were sold at health food stores and grocery stores in the U.S. nationwide and in Canada. Details: by phone at 845-368-1073.

Recalled items include:

_ EZ Gourmet Heavenly Peanut Butter cookies; item No. 209; UPC 873418002092; 6 ounces.

_ EZ Gourmet Crunchy Peanut Butter cookies; item No. 204; UPC 873418002047; 6 ounce.
