LOS ANGELES (AP) - Stacy Keach has been hospitalized and was replaced by his understudy in a Los Angeles stage production of “Frost/Nixon.”

Dick Guttman, a spokesman for the 67-year-old actor, says Keach was in stable condition. He didn’t say why Keach was hospitalized or provide further details.

Keach had been starring as Richard Nixon in the Center Theater Group’s production of “Frost/Nixon” at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Center Theater Group spokesman Ken Werther says Keach was replaced by his understudy for Tuesday’s performance.

Keach, known for his portrayal of hard-boiled detective Mike Hammer, has Broadway credits including “Indians,” “Deathtrap,” “The Kentucky Cycle” and “Solitary Confinement.”
