INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and made an 18-foot stepback shot with 1.1 seconds left to give Dallas a 94-92 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.

The victory ended a stretch in which the Mavericks had lost three of their last four.

Danny Granger led Indiana with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but his 20-footer that could have forced overtime was partially blocked by Ryan Hollins at the buzzer. The Pacers have now lost five straight and have fallen 4 1/2 games behind Chicago for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Neither team took control in the fourth quarter. Indiana led 89-85 with 2:30 left after Brandon Rush hit a 3-pointer, but the Mavs closed the game on a 9-3 run to win it.
