BAGHDAD (AP) - The U.S. military says an American soldier has died from non-combat causes in Iraq.

A statement issued Friday says the Multi-National Division _ Center soldier died the previous day. It doesn’t give a location or more details but the soldier’s division operates in an area south of Baghdad.

The death occurred on the day that marks the sixth anniversary of the 2003 U.S. invasion that led to the ouster of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

At least 4,260 American service members have died in Iraq since the war started. That’s according to an Associated Press count.
