OAKLAND, CALIF. (AP) - Police in California say two officers and a suspect have been shot after a manhunt ended in gunfire following the shooting of two other officers during a traffic stop earlier in the day.

Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason says the two officers shot in the initial incident are in critical condition. The condition of the two other officers and the suspect who were shot was not immediately known.

The earlier shooting led to an intense manhunt Saturday by dozens of Oakland police, California Highway Patrol officers and Alameda County sheriff deputies. Streets were roped off and an entire area of east Oakland shut to traffic.
