WINTER HAVEN, FLA. (AP) - Trinity College of Connecticut, the defending Division III national champion, ended a 50-game winning streak that spanned two seasons with losses in both games of a doubleheader against Ohio’s Denison University in the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational.

Trinity entered Friday’s games as the top-ranked team in the nation but fell to 7-2 with a 10-4 loss in the opening game and a 7-2 setback in the finale.

The Bantams, who went 45-1 last season to capture the D-III national crown, hadn’t lost consecutive games since the 2007 NCAA regional tournament and dropped both ends of a twinbill for the first time in nearly two years.

Trinity was last swept in a doubleheader by Bowdoin College on March 31, 2007.
