WASHINGTON (AP) - NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (yahp duh hohp SKEHF’-ur) will visit President Barack Obama on Wednesday.

The White House says they will discuss plans for NATO’s 60th anniversary summit in Germany and France April 3-4.

Obama will attend the NATO summit after he participates in a global economic forum in London on April 2.

The White House says the president is committed to NATO and looks forward to reviewing the status of its missions.

He also looks forward to discussing with the secretary general ways to ensure NATO remains important for meeting 21st century challenges.
