DENVER (AP) - New York guard Larry Hughes was sidelined Tuesday night against Denver because of a sprained right ankle.

Hughes injured the ankle in the Knicks’ loss at Utah on Monday night.

Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said Hughes is day-to-day and could return Saturday against Toronto. Hughes has been filling in for Quentin Richardson, who missed his third straight game with a sprained left ankle.

Eddy Curry (knee) also didn’t play.

Since being acquired from Chicago on Feb. 19, Hughes is averaging 12.5 points and 2.8 rebounds. He also missed a game on March 23 due to a sore left toe.
