The University of Notre Dame has invited President Obama to speak and receive an honorary degree at this year’s commencement. I write as a member of the subway alumni. One of my earliest memories as a child in the 1940s in Philadelphia was sitting around the radio listening to Notre Dame football on Saturday afternoons. The combination of being Catholic, Irish and devoted to our Blessed Mother gave me an affinity for the university that I have held throughout my life. This affinity will end Sunday.

When the Rev. John Jenkins, the faculty and students of Notre Dame applaud and cheer for Mr. Obama, I will be thinking of the unborn children who will be aborted because of the position and actions of Mr. Obama. My family will no longer be cheering for Old Notre Dame.
