An accident Tuesday morning on Route 50 eastbound is causing delays.

The incident began before 8:30 a.m. near the Capital Beltway and Route 704 as a disabled tractor-trailer on the left shoulder, according to WTOP-FM Radio. Then a car struck the tractor-trailer from the rear.

Traffic is backed up for about a half mile, but the right lane remains open.
