Advice compiled and condensed from actual sources by Stephanie Green, who composed the questions.

I lost the election for governor of Virginia last week. While that was bad enough, what really stings is I lost to the same man who beat me in the race for Virginia attorney general in 2005, Bob McDonnell.

What’s wrong with me? I had the president of the United States, Virginia’s current governor and two U.S. senators campaigning for me. To top it off, the commonwealth has been trending toward my party in recent years.

Boy, do I feel low.

- R. Creigh Deeds

Dear Creigh,

Sport and life is about losing. It’s about understanding how to lose.

I‘m feeling slightly triumphant, but ambivalent at the same time. I was the guest host on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, and I used the opportunity to take a few jabs at Kanye West. Remember how he rudely interrupted my acceptance speech for Entertainer of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this fall?

Now I feel as petty as he was. Maybe I should have risen above it all and not done a skit about him. Did I do the right thing?

- Taylor Swift

Dear Taylor,

Always forgive your enemies, nothing annoys them so much.

- Oscar Wilde

Can you believe my ex, Ojani Noa? OK, so things didn’t work out between us - we were married for less than a year - but then I gave him a job as the manager of my restaurant, Madres, in 2002. That didn’t go so well either, but we agreed to remain civil and not discuss each other in the media.

I sued him a couple of years ago for trying to write a tell-all book about me, but now he’s attempting to release a documentary about our marriage - and it features some rather intimate footage.

What is this guy’s problem?

- Jennifer Lopez

Dear Jennifer,

Lack of money is the root of all evil.

- George Bernard Shaw
