c Doug Grane is the new executive vice president of Raptor Strategies LLC, a public-relations firm based in Washington. He most recently served as president of Central States Trucking Co. near Chicago.

c Henry Popplewell and Siamak Azmoudeh have joined asset-management solutions provider SkyBitz of Sterling, Va. Mr. Popplewell will serve as senior vice president of sales for the company, and Mr. Azmoudeh as senior vice president of product-line management. Most recently, Mr. Popplewell worked for SkyTel of Herndon, overseeing sales and distribution, and Mr. Azmoudeh served as vice president at Pegasus TransTech, based in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Azmoudeh has more than 25 years of experience in the transportation and adjacent industries, and Mr. Popplewell has more than 20 years of executive sales experience.

c Merkle Inc., a marketing agency based in Columbia, Md., recently promoted to two longtime employees, Patrick Hennessy and Tim Berry, to co-president positions. Mr. Hennessy came to Merkle 12 years ago, eventually becoming the executive vice president and group leader of the commercial markets group. Mr. Berry also joined the company 12 years ago, as its first statistician. Both men played a key role in building the organization from 80 employees and $19 million in annual revenue to more than 1,000 employees and estimated 2009 revenue of $240 million.

c Cherry, Bekaert & Holland LLP, a CPA and consulting firm based in Richmond, recently named John T.H. Carpenterdirector of its government-contractor services group. Mr. Carpenter joined CB&H; in 2007. He previously worked at Wachovia Capital Finance for 10 years as a director.

c NJVC LLC, an information-technology solutions provider based in Vienna, has hired Tom Sofo as general counsel. Mr. Sofo previously served as vice president and general counsel at Apptis Holdings Inc. in Chantilly.

c Michael N. Mercurio, who serves as chairman of Offit Kurman’s Business and Real Estate Practice, is the newest member of the Greater Washington DC Family Business Alliance. Offit Kurman has offices in Bethesda, Baltimore and Philadelphia.

c Geoffrey Bobsin, CPA, has joined the real estate brokerage firm Calkain Cos. Inc. of Tampa, Fla., as chief financial officer. Mr. Bobsin will be responsible for the accounting, tax and strategic planning areas of the company. Before joining Calkain, Mr. Bobsin served as the chief financial officer for Space Adventures Ltd., an international space-exploration company based in Vienna.
