How did you get started in real estate? I grew up in the business. My father was a real estate investor and purchased foreclosure properties, fixed them up and flipped them. Instead of getting a baby sitter take me along with him. After I graduated from college, I started to work for a mortgage company to learn that side of the business. I saved up enough money to buy my first investment property and flipped it for a profit. Eventually, I branched into residential sales.

How long with the current company? Since 2004

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Despite the market, last year was one of my busiest years ever due to my specialty and referrals. I’m lucky to have my business grow to the point where I have a team who backs me up, which is a great asset to my clients.

Area of specialty: First-time homebuyers and newlyweds are my specialty. I also know Maryland and Virginia very well, from having lived in both.

Highest-priced home sold: $1,150,000

Most memorable house: Since I deal with foreclosures, I have many crazy stories! One of the most memorable was a house that had piles of dead flies at every window. It was a vacant house in the middle of summer. The reason for all of the flies was a thawed freezer full of rotten hunting meat.

Describe your worst experience buying or selling a house: The longer I’m in this business, the more issues I come across - the worst are when Mother Nature interferes. I’ve had a couple experiences where rainwater came into the home and damaged the property. It always seems to happen right before a settlement.

What kind of car do you drive? 2004 Honda Accord Coupe

Describe your personal dream house: I love the character of older homes but I also love modern amenities. My ideal home would be a new-construction bungalow with a huge front porch, open kitchen, laundry room on the bedroom level, three-car garage, walk-out basement and a patio with a firepit on a treed lot overlooking the Potomac in Glen Echo.
