Many thanks to The Washington Times for pressing the Obama administration on its commitment to openness and accountability. It is starting to seem as if those concepts were little more than campaign rhetoric, forgotten and discarded seconds after they scrolled off of President Obama’s teleprompter.

While it is essential that someone hold the Obama administration accountable for its nominations and selections, The Times is dead wrong about one thing. The radicals and weirdos who staff Mr. Obama’s out-of-control executive-branch czar programs are not there because of insufficient vetting. I think they were selected precisely because of their extreme and bizarre views.

Mr. Obama, in my view, is not a liberal in the contemporary political sense. He is a radical who feels impeded by the Constitution, which hinders the redistribution of the fruits of other people’s labors.
