I am constantly telling people, “If you don’t watch at least an hour of Fox News a day, you are uninformed” (“Fox hunting,” Editorial, Thursday). I always preface my statement by noting the differences between Fox News and its commentators. Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly and Greta Van Susteren are hired for a purpose - to provide commentary. The news anchors are top-notch and provide the most well-rounded and balanced reporting around. The ratings bear me out.

The Obama administration’s attempts to use the Federal Communications Commission to meddle in talk radio and its attempts to manipulate insurance companies’ efforts to inform their customers about aspects in the health care debate smack of McCarthyism. There will come a point when the voting public will decide that freedom of speech and freedom of thought are more important than the president’s image.
