ANALYSIS/OPINION:

As one who had the privilege of being twice quoted in the late William Safire’s “On Language” column, I must say I am confounded that a president who told George Stephanopoulos during a recent unprecedented media blitz that he had more important issues than the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) - about which he claimed to know little - had the time to fly off to Denmark to promote the idea of his Chicago hosting the 2016 Olympics (“Obama to try to win games for Chicago,” Nation, Tuesday). (Mr. Safire would have enjoyed my packing all that into one sentence.)
