Windgate Village of Arlington, a community of brick town-home-style condominiums reminiscent of Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria, offers a prime location for nearly any activity. Within this beautifully maintained community are a swimming pool and recently resurfaced tennis courts, and neighbors have easy access to a dog park, walking trails and parks alongside Four Mile Run Creek. There is also a bike trail, which winds its way from Mount Vernon to Theodore Roosevelt Island, where it links with the Washington and Old Dominion Trail leading to Leesburg. Nearby, Arlington County’s Barcroft Park provides more tennis courts and playing fields.

The Village of Shirlington is within walking distance, providing restaurants to suit nearly every diner, along with sports bars and tapas restaurants. The acclaimed Signature Theatre, also at Shirlington, offers nightly live performances, and residents can also take advantage of movie theaters and shops in this lively neighborhood.

Commuters can reach the Pentagon or the District in about 15 minutes by car, and a commuter bus takes residents to Shirlington, where they can hop on a shuttle bus to the Pentagon Metro station.

Windgate Village was built 30 years ago and includes brick homes clustered around small courtyards, each filled with trees, flowering shrubs and perennial plantings. The home at 2542-D S. Walter Reed Drive, now on the market for $469,900, is an Avon model with about 1,600 finished square feet. Other homes in the community, according to Realtor Peggy Parker of Keller Williams Realty, currently range in price from the $460,000s to the $525,000s.

This home has been updated with custom features, including hardwood floors on the main level. The three-level town home includes a charming fenced brick patio with a back gate, garden beds and space for a grill. The patio backs to a common area with more trees.

At the front of the home, the kitchen includes a tall window facing the courtyard. The kitchen was completely remodeled in 2003 with granite counters, new cabinets, a new dishwasher, a convection oven and new lighting, including track lighting over the pass-through counter into the dining area. A ceramic tile floor was installed in the kitchen in 2005.

The homeowners replaced all the windows in the home in 2004 with dual pane windows, including the French doors that lead to the patio.

The main level, in addition to the kitchen, has an open living room and dining room, with a column defining the dining area. The owners added crown moldings to these two rooms, which, along with the hardwood floors, give the home a classic appeal. The focal point for the living room is the wood-burning fireplace, which is flanked by a tall window and the French doors to the patio.

The main level also has a half bath and a coat closet. The half bath includes a pedestal sink, new floors and a new toilet with a distinctive feature: The toilet lid automatically closes after each use.

Upstairs, a large linen closet is at the top of the stairs. The master bedroom includes two tall windows and a ceiling fan, with a walk-in closet in one corner. All of the bedroom closets have been improved with organizer systems of staggered clothes poles and built-in drawers to maximize storage space. The master bedroom also includes an impressive dressing area with a double-door mirrored closet, a sink and extensive built-in wood cabinets for storage. Pocket doors link this area with the full bath, which is also accessible through pocket doors from the hall.

The second bedroom has a double-door closet and two tall windows overlooking the patio.

The finished lower level includes a den with a closet and a window, with an adjacent full bath. Nearby is a recreation room with access to a storage closet under the stairs. This level also has a laundry room with additional storage.

The condominium fees at Windgate Village include use of the swimming pool and tennis courts, as well as all water and sewer fees, hazard insurance, trash and recycling, exterior maintenance, common area maintenance, outside painting and repairs (including the roof and the patio fences).

This lovely home waits for new owners who will enjoy the prime location and amenities.
