The neighborhood of Glover Park in Northwest Washington, half a mile north of Georgetown and just west of Wisconsin Avenue, features tree-lined streets with attached homes, duplexes and brick apartment buildings and condominiums. A first-floor unit in one of those brick buildings, the Glover at 4009 Davis Place, is available.

This area attracts a mix of singles, couples, young families and older residents who appreciate the quiet and friendly atmosphere along with the proximity to shops, restaurants and public transportation.

The Glover condominium, a brick midrise building built in 1938, has seven units and was completely renovated in 2007. Unit 101, a two-bedroom and two-bath home with about 900 finished square feet, is on the market for $495,000. The condominium association fee is $272 per month.

Behind the building are garden beds, along with a patio and a gas grill. Lawn chairs are stored in a hall closet for residents to enjoy when the weather cooperates. The building is pet-friendly, a plus in this walkable neighborhood that is popular with dog owners.

Plenty of street parking is available near the Glover, and some residents have off-street parking spaces behind the building. When the condominium was renovated, energy-efficient systems and appliances were installed, along with new energy-efficient windows.

This home has an open floor plan, which maximizes the available space, including an open living room and dining room. At the front of the home is an oversized picture window with wood blinds. There are two side windows, also with wood blinds.

Natural maple floors extend through the living room, dining room, kitchen and into the second bedroom. The open kitchen includes a breakfast bar, black granite counters, stainless steel appliances (including a refrigerator with an icemaker) and gas cooking.

The second bedroom has French doors, a double-door closet and a large window with wood blinds. The closets include custom shelving.

Across the hall from the second bedroom is a full bath with a shower and a pedestal sink, along with neutral ceramic tile floors that extend from the floor to the shower and up the shower walls.

Adjacent to the bath is a closet with a full-size stacked washer and dryer.

At the back of this home, the master bedroom includes a set of French doors that overlook the backyard and patio. The private master bath has a sleek, tall vanity with multiple drawers, a granite countertop and modern fixtures; ceramic tile floors and a matching ceramic tile tub and shower surround. The nearby walk-in closet includes built-in shelving systems. The master bedroom also has a ceiling fan.

Prospective buyers who enjoy socializing will appreciate this neighborhood. Since 1982, softball teams have gathered every Sunday across the street at the Stoddert Field, adjacent to Stoddert Elementary. The field, however, is currently torn apart as part of the renovation of the school, but neighbors anticipate a return of the softball games once the work is complete.

In the meantime, neighbors gather for barbecues and happy hours at each other’s homes and at the multiple restaurants clustered along Wisconsin Avenue. Neighbors also stop to chat with puppies and strollers in tow on their way to the nearby Whole Foods Market or the Glover Park Hardware store. A community garden is nearby.

Although renovated two years ago, this condominium appears to be completely new inside, yet the restored brick exterior helps the building blend in with the neighborhood.
