While mountains of snow blanketed the Washington region this winter, plenty of local residents spent their days dreaming about boating, fishing or perhaps just sunbathing on the beach with a good book. Trips to the beach can become an everyday occurrence for homeowners at the Marina at Pepper’s Creek, a waterfront community in Dagsboro, Del.

Located a short drive from Delaware’s Dewey Beach, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach, the Marina at Pepper’s Creek includes 122 single-family homes in a community with 88 boat slips and a private boat ramp. Access by boat to neighboring Indian River Bay beach towns is just one attraction to this development, which also includes a fitness room and a swimming pool. Local residents can take advantage of the lack of a sales tax in Delaware while shopping and can spend their days exploring not only the beach and the bay, but also the delights of small coastline towns.

Owning a vacation home can seem like a luxury reserved for the wealthy, but the homes at the Marina at Pepper’s Creek are affordably priced. Families may want to purchase a residence now for weekend and vacation enjoyment that will function in the future as a relaxing retirement home.

The homes have three or four bedrooms with two full baths, a single-car garage and 1,471 to 2,413 finished square feet of living space. Base prices for the homes range from $249,990 to $329,990. Some homes include a powder room.

Standard features for the homes, which are built by Schell Bros., include low-maintenance vinyl siding, an asphalt driveway and an attached garage. Inside, the homes have smooth walls and ceilings; six-panel doors; Colonial-style baseboard trim and door and window casings; a gas fireplace; and ceramic tile flooring in the foyer, powder room and bathrooms. The kitchens include crown moldings above 30- to 42-inch wall cabinets, a self-cleaning oven and a side-by-side refrigerator. Each home has gas heat and hot water and a ceiling fan rough-in in each bedroom, the kitchen and the living room.

The Easton model, with 2,413 finished square feet, is priced at $329,990. This home features a covered porch with columns that wraps from the front to the side of the house. Inside, the foyer includes French doors that open into the central hall. Nearby are the formal dining room and a powder room.

The kitchen includes a breakfast bar and opens to a breakfast area and open living room with a wall of windows and a glass door to the deck. The living room also has a fireplace flanked by windows.

The first-floor master suite includes a bedroom with windows on two sides and a glass door to the deck, a walk-in closet and a luxury bath with a double-sink vanity, a soaking tub and a separate shower. The main level also includes a laundry room.

Upstairs, the center of the upper level features a family room. The second bedroom includes a sitting alcove and a walk-in closet. This level has two more bedrooms and a second full bath.
