Andy Stern’s departure from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is welcome news, but it begs the question of where a man of such devious and destructive devices will reappear (“Andy Stern’s debts,” Commentary, Friday).

A spiritual soul mate of President Obama’s, Mr. Stern shares with our commander in chief a combination of backroom political hardball tactics and radical indoctrination. This is a lethal brew. No two men are more responsible than they for the fundamental rewriting of the contract between the government and the American people, and their twisted ideology has set us back for generations and restored power to long-useless unions.

Bigger things are likely in store for the socialist-leaning Mr. Stern. He is ambitious, cynical and cut from the same cloth as the most far-left radicals; his presence near the president during coming policy fights seems a foregone conclusion.

Mr. Obama’s candidacy was the result of real hope on the part of the American people, combined with the implosion and hijacking of the traditional Democratic Party by the radical left. One look at the share register shows MoveOn.org front and center. Not far behind is Mr. Stern, and we should make no mistake; he is just as dangerous.
