In a recent Op-Ed (“Will America break up?” Opinion, March 26) Jeffrey T. Kuhner ponders whether the issue of abortion will divide our nation the way slavery did. My question is, how could we not break up when our voices are not heard in the halls of Congress?

We protest, write and call our legislators - to no avail. Most of us, despite outrage over the increasingly socialist tendencies of our government, would not resort to violence to stop it. So how do we stop the madness? Mr. Kuhner’s reflections on the division over the serious moral issue of federal funding of abortions in Obamacare inspired me to see the answer: Stop paying taxes. Would the Obama administration heed us then?

We taxpayers should put our foot down, refuse to cooperate and thus use the only power we have left against this overreaching government: the withholding of our tax money.
