WASHINGTON (AP) — Several D.C. lawmakers are slamming the mayor’s approach to digging out from record-breaking snow.

Councilman Kwame Brown has taken to Twitter to press Mayor Adrian Fenty to move faster in plowing, removing trash and pursuing federal assistance.

Fenty told the CBS “Early Show” Thursday the city is making progress plowing streets and should be back to normal after the coming long weekend.

Councilman Harry Thomas Jr. on Wednesday blasted Fenty for failing to remove snow from last weekend before a second blizzard. Councilman Jim Graham says any city would be challenged but D.C. could have done better.

The city’s delegate to Congress, Eleanor Holmes Norton, has asked for federal emergency funds.
