ANNAPOLIS — Republican state Sen. Andrew Harris said Tuesday that Ellen Sauerbrey will lead his campaign for Congress.

Mr. Harris announced she would be the chair of his campaign for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Mrs. Sauerbrey is a two-time Republican candidate for Maryland governor. She also ran President George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign in the state.

Mr. Harris lost his race for Congress against Democrat Frank Kratovil by less than 1 percent of the vote in 2008.

The large district includes the entire Eastern Shore as well as portions of Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford counties.
