ANALYSIS/OPINION:

In “This year’s CPAC gathering may matter more than most” (Page 2, Thursday) Newt Gingrich related this interesting story about Ronald Reagan, as told to him by American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene: “When Mr. Reagan became president, his first major speech in 1981 was to CPAC [the Conservative Political Action Conference]. In that speech, he said his aides wondered ‘why CPAC?’ and he said, because I believe you dance with who brung ya.’ ”

When Mr. Obama became president, his first major broadcast of 2009, just eight days after his inauguration, was to the Muslim nations - and it was aired on al-Arabiya TV. Hmm. This citizen asks, “Why al-Arabiya, Mr. President? May we see your dance card, please?”
