ANALYSIS/OPINION:

So the John Templeton Foundation has awarded $4.4 million to Florida State University philosopher Alfred Mele to find out if humans have “free will” (“Just So You Know,” Inside the Beltway, Wednesday).

Cut loose from the wisdom of the ages, the literature of Western civilization and all the parental guides on how to deal with the “willful” child, Mr. Mele is not only allowed this frivolous pursuit but is being paid abundantly to pursue it. There is more than one fool on this ship. Please, Mr. Mele and the John Templeton Foundation: Read Genesis 3 and then send the $4.4 million to the Red Cross for Haiti earthquake relief.
