A Virginia appeals court plans to review the exoneration of a former Navy SEAL trainee in the abduction and murder of a college student.

The full Virginia Court of Appeals is scheduled to rehear the case of Dustin Turner of Bloomington, Ind., on Tuesday.

The Virginia attorney general’s office sought the rehearing last August in a petition that questioned the credibility of fellow trainee Billy Joe Brown, who said he acted alone in killing Jennifer Evans. The agency argued that Brown’s two confessions were substantially different, but the trial court only was aware of one.

The appeals panel voted 2-1 in August to clear Mr. Turner, agreeing with the trial judge that Brown’s confession was credible.
