Montgomery County police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a female student at Montgomery College’s Takoma Park campus.

Police said they found 34-year-old Nathaniel L. Hart at a Silver Spring hotel Tuesday night. They said he tried to escape from a police cruiser as it entered the police headquarters parking lot.

Officials said he attacked a 19-year-old student Tuesday afternoon in a restroom at the college’s performing arts center. They said Mr. Hart implied that he had a gun when he confronted the woman, but she did not see it.

The campus was locked down for about 90 minutes while police searched the area.

Mr. Hart, who did not have a confirmed address, faces two counts of first-degree rape, first-degree sexual offense and attempting to escape after arrest charges.
