ANALYSIS/OPINION:

What was the Middle Class Task Force thinking? (“Obama puts focus on ways to help middle-class families,” Politics, Tuesday). Tax help for those with child care expenses or looking after the elderly and a cap on student loan payments all assume you have a job and/or money. Easing into contributing to retirement is nice, but you first need to have the means. The tax season-proposals are pure pandering.

The tax force’s recommendations don’t amount to a hill of beans. Those people all work and have assets. The question is, will the public fall for the bait?
