ANALYSIS/OPINION:

By engaging disgraced, impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to appear on “Celebrity Apprentice,” Donald Trump has done a great deal to enhance his image as a tasteless, smarmy purveyor of cultural rot.

Anyone who would watch a program featuring a loathsome and wholly unsympathetic figure like Mr. Blagojevich is someone with too much time to fritter away or someone who regards the former governor as a train wreck from which one cannot avert their eyes.

Mr. Blagojevich will compete in order to win money for the Children’s Cancer Center, which is apparently willing to prostitute itself by accepting funds derived through such ashameful endeavor.

If there were an award for the individual who has contributed the most to bringing the once-promising medium of television even lower, Donald Trump should top the list of nominees.
