DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA (AP) - Germany and Spain are 0-0 at halftime after the Spaniards had the hottest chance and dominated possession in the first half of their World Cup semifinal match Wednesday.

David Villa’s close-range shot off a pass by Pedro was blocked by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s legs in the sixth minute.

Piotr Trowchowski had Germany’s only scoring opportunity with a long-distance shot in the 32nd that was saved by a diving Iker Casillas.

Spain controlled the pace with its trademark passing as Germany waited for counterattacks.

The match was briefly interrupted in the fourth minute when a spectator carrying a vuvuzela ran onto the pitch and was escorted off by security guards.

The winner will play the Netherlands in Sunday’s World Cup final.
