I wonder what ever happened to the original congressional border plan of two fences along the southwestern U.S. border with a road in between (“Border fence: Virtual vs. reality,” Page 1, March 1).

Who changed that plan? Didn’t the Secure Fence Act of 2006 say that the purpose of such a fence was to prevent all unlawful entry? Worse yet, how could Boeing, a company whose expertise is in building jets, get the job of building the border system? I have to wonder whether any responsible person ever really wanted the border to be secure.
