Brad Botwin’s Wednesday letter to the editor, “Solving Maryland’s gang problems,” presents a solution to the myriad woes our nation is facing - if the politicians in the statehouses and Washington were willing to address the illegal-immigrant issue head-on instead of pandering to nonvoting, noncitizen advocacy groups.

CASA de Maryland and other groups like it refuse to acknowledge a difference between illegal and legal immigrants, and they use that blurring of lines to enrich themselves and advocate for open borders, which are depleting our scarce national resources. I can only assume that there is a money-rich environment there and that certain politicians are exploiting these groups’ deep pockets for their re-election war chests instead of removing all incentives for illegal immigrants to come and stay in the United States.
