I am a 51-year-old woman who lost my job a year ago after working for more than 33 years. I applied for Social Security disability in the beginning of 2009 for physical and mental disabilities but was denied and had to hire an attorney to help me with Social Security and for any government assistance such as food stamps, a medical card and cash.

Here it is March of 2010, and I still have not received even an appeal date. I was forced to use my 401(k) from work and probably soon will have to use money from my IRA account to live on.It makes me very angry that the government had no problem dipping into my check every week for 33 years, but now that I need help, I cannot get any assistance whatsoever. Why is the president not helping people like us who are being forced tolive on our retirement money? Not only do I have to live on it, now I am being taxed and penalized for it. Where is the help President Obama promised for the little people like me?
