ANALYSIS/OPINION:

As a former Navy pilot, I know that allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military is a huge mistake, and it will have serious repercussions on the military’s readiness and ability to defend our nation.

It was amazingly irresponsible for our Congress to pass a repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” especially when they knew that the overwhelming majority of our servicemen, military leaders and citizens strongly opposed it.

People like Rep. Ron Paul, Texas Republican, and Rep. Jim Matheson, a Democrat in my home of Utah, should know better. They need to be ashamed of themselves for their wrong vote on this matter. Because of votes like theirs, our nation could be badly damaged.
