MEXICO CITY (AP) - The Mexican Football Federation says five players who tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol have been cleared and will not face punishment.

The five players _ defenders Francisco Rodriguez and Edgar Duenas, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, and midfielders Christian Bermudez and Antonio Naelson _ tested positive in May at a training camp in Mexico before the Gold Cup tournament in the United States.

The players blamed the positive tests on contaminated meat.

In a statement Friday, the federation said its disciplinary commission findings showed the positive tests were “due to contaminated food.”
