SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC (AP) - Quebec’s premier says the NHL is not doing enough to stop on-ice violence and team owners need to do something about it immediately.

The comments by Jean Charest come after a hit this week that seriously injured Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens.

He was discharged from hospital Thursday, two days after a check by Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara fractured Pacioretty’s vertebra and gave him a concussion.

Montreal police are investigating the hit. The NHL has not disciplined Chara.

Charest’s remarks were made at a news conference on another matter.
