A Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip condemned the U.S. operation that killed Osama bin Laden, calling it part of larger policy based on “the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood.”

“We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior,” said Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, according to the official website of armed wing of the Palestinian terrorist group.

“We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs,” he added.

“We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood.”

Hamas recently signed an Egyptian-brokered reconciliation agreement with Fatah that would end four years of divided Palestinian rule and create a unity government in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
