A White Oak teenager has been charged with first degree murder in the death of his 7-month-old sister, Montgomery County police said.

Johnathan Aguiluc, 14, told police that on Thursday night, he beat his sister, Larissa Yanes, who he was babysitting while her mother was at work. Larissa started to cry, so he covered her mouth with his hands until she was quiet.

Police said the teen then put Larissa in her car seat, which was in their apartment in the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive. The infant’s mother, 39-year-old Gloria Yanes returned to the apartment at about 5:30 a.m. Friday after her overnight work shift, and found the girl sleeping. About a half hour later, Ms. Yanes attempted to wake up Larissa for a feeding but could not get the infant to respond.

Officers were called to the apartment and Larissa was taken to the hospital, where she died at about 6:54 a.m.

Johnathan has been in jail since his arrest over the weekend, and was due in court on Monday for a bond review.
