WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) - The owner of a Great Dane that killed another dog at a suburban St. Louis dog park has turned the animal over to authorities.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1hvXsTu ) reports that the man came forward Monday night, a day after a golden retriever named Buddy was killed at Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville. The Great Dane is being held at a facility in St. Peters while the investigation continues.

Authorities say the Great Dane attacked and killed the 10-year-old golden retriever while about 75 people were in the area. The presumed owner of the Great Dane left with his dog immediately after the attack.

Buddy’s owner, Nick Andres of Wentzville, believes that public pressure helped convince the Great Dane owner to turn him in.
