ST. LOUIS (AP) - A proposed fee increase for daily light-rail users as well as long-term bus and train riders is the topic of a public hearing Tuesday night at Metro headquarters in St. Louis.

The public transit agency is considering a 25-cent hike per train trip and increases of $6 to $8 for monthly bus and train passes as part of an effort to raise an additional $2.2 million.

Metro is hosting a two-hour public meeting starting at 5 p.m. at 707 North First Street. A formal presentation on the proposed fee increases is scheduled for 6 p.m. The agency says it will accept public comments at the meeting as well as in writing through the end of the week.
