AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A swarm of bees estimated at about 25,000 had to be removed at Circuit of the Americas in Austin after taking up residence under a picnic table near the main grandstand.

Walter Schumacher of Central Texas Bee Rescue and Preserve was called in to haul off the bees Saturday. He tells the Austin American-Statesman (https://bit.ly/1enaUtV ) that the bees, which live nearby, were attracted to the vendor stands that sell items like frozen yogurt and cookies. The track was hosting motorcycle racing this weekend.

A woman working at a frozen yogurt stand said the swarm came in as a cloud at about 11 a.m. Fire officials didn’t allow access to the area until the bees were clear, about two hours later.
