PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities are searching for the person who created a device that looked like a bomb after police had to evacuate several homes and an apartment building in the city’s Queen Village section.

Philadelphia Gas Works employees investigating a report of a gas odor around 9 p.m. Monday found a milk jug with wires attached to a timer. It was plugged into the wall outlet of a home on the 700 block of South 4th Street.

WCAU-TV reports (bit.ly/1kVuf8H) that investigators have determined the device is not explosive or dangerous and that residents have returned to their homes.
