ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A 52-year-old man is dead after he was shot by police in St. Charles.

St. Charles police went to a home Wednesday night after neighbors complained that a man identified as Martin G. Brown was threatening them and igniting fireworks.

KSDK reports (https://on.ksdk.com/QrdG6y ) police say Brown was holding a weapon and refused their commands to drop it. He was shot when he moved toward the officers and threatened them.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Brown threatened officers with a knife and a handgun and was first struck with a stun gun before the shooting.

The officer, a 13-year veteran, was placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. No one else was injured.
