WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - The folks at the Williams Reindeer Farm in Wasilla, Alaska, say Denali the “kissing moose” has died after suffering a bad reaction to medication.

Denise Hardy runs the farm. She tells the Anchorage Daily News (https://is.gd/beSC44 ) that the 5-year-old moose raised at the farm since he was found as a near-starving calf grew into a sweet-tempered animal.

People would put sprigs of willow in their mouths, or carrots, or bananas and Denali would pluck the treats from them. Hardy says the moose has kissed regular folks and the famous, like Larry the Cable Guy and Sarah Palin.

Denali came to the farm under a permit from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. He was found near Homer, where locals thought he might have been abandoned by his mother.

He died Friday. Lab results from a necropsy won’t be back for a month or so.
